A lot of career experts have found that pursuing a profession is far more satisfying than focusing solely on a job. In this fast-paced world, finding and keeping a job for so long is hard. The word ‘ job security’ hardly applies. With the high level of uncertainty all around us, learning how to recognize and develop your career in a way that would help you succeed through volatile economic times is crucial. Here are 7 Powerful keys you could use to construct yourself a successful career path.

1. It all of your purpose

We aren’t created just to exist and pay bills. Our life has one function. Life would continue to be an endless string of struggles and fruitless pursuits until we find and pursue that purpose. You must find answers to the following questions when discovering your purpose; what are you, of course, good at? Do you have a passion for what? Which gives you the greatest joy? It is only by finding answers to these questions that you can really start a rewarding career.

2. Have a huge vision

Although the intention is the reason for your life, vision is the picture of your future. The creation of it is the best way to predict your future. What do you think of the big picture? Do you imagine what your life in 10, 15, 20 years from now would be like? Having a clear vision of your future brings more meaning to your life and helps you funnel all of your energy towards building a career aligned with your intent.

3. Goals form career

Goals are the vehicle that makes our vision a reality. Once you have a clear picture of your future and know your purpose, then it is time to take those steps by setting SMART goals. It has to be Objective, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-bound for your goals to be successful.

4. Develop the skills and knowledge

Each career path has a number of critical success factors that distinguish high fliers from the rest of the pack. Identifying these factors is crucial for building your career path to success. Your job is to be absolutely clear about what they are about your work and then rate yourself correctly in each one of them. The critical success factors in management, for example, are the following 7 skills: planning, organizing, staffing, delegating, supervising, measuring and reporting. These factors can be determined by asking people who are successful in your career chosen field. Your aim is to find where you are short and prepare to improve your skills.

5. Have a career mentors

If I saw further it’s by standing on giants ‘ shoulders, Isaac Newton. There is no place you’d like to go to that people didn’t go before. If you are humble enough to learn at the feet of those who have gone ahead of you it would save you a lot of time. Mentors help you avoid costly errors and help you grow rapidly by preventing you from reinventing the wheel again. Learning from a mentor’s experience would give you leverage and save a great deal of time and resources. Make an effort to look for mentors to help you on your career path. Ironically, people who have had successful careers are looking for opportunities for the next generation to pass on their wealth of knowledge and experience.

6. Have a professional network

We’re made for relationships. No matter how intelligent or smart you think you are, without the support and help of others, you would never be able to attain your full potential. John Wooden once said You’re the same person five years from now except for the people you’ve met and the books you’ve read. It would help you a lot in your career journey to make an effort to connect with people who share a common career path. We all need encouragement, assistance, ideas that can help us make our journey to where we’re going. Building your network and growing it would open you up to a lot of opportunities that you may never have come across.
